Become a Coach

The club establishes new teams every year and relies on our volunteer workforce to run and coach all of our teams. We need you!!
As an FA Charter Standard Community Club we are required to have all of our volunteer coaches undertake CRB checks and at least one coach with every team must hold the FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate as a minimum qualification.

FA Level 1 Coaching Certificate
The Level One Award in Coaching Football course is available throughout North Riding CFA and York College is a regular venue used. This course provides an introduction to the organisation and delivery of safe and enjoyable coaching sessions for players, providing practical drills to develop players’ technical skills such as shooting, turning with the ball and heading. It is ideal for those who want to work with groups of young players or teams and is great introduction for absolutely anyone with an interest in football. The course takes just a few days of your spare time and nearly always runs over evenings and weekends to help you fit football coaching around your life.

FA Youth Module 1
The first module of three presents a child centred approach to the development of our young players. The award recognises the important role the coach can have upon levels of motivation and self-esteem and gives practical advice to help the coaching sessions become an "effective environment for learning”. Suitable for coaches at all levels this innovative new look at coaching will create coaches who have an understanding of children and young players as well as football.

Course Aims & Objectives
To provide candidates who have an ongoing involvement in coaching young football players with an opportunity to improve their knowledge and confidence in coaching children in the 5-11 year group.

The course will introduce some key aspects in the following:

•The importance of the social corner and how it links with the 4 corners.
•How players learn
•Motivation
•Self-Esteem
•Managing Mistakes
•Managing Physical, Technical, Social and Psychological Difference
•Planning Activity

Practical elements of the course will provide an introduction to:

The club is happy to financially support our volunteer coaches to continue to improve and develop their coaching knowledge on any of The FA courses.
